Massimo Micheluzzi uses traditional techniques to achieve a uniquely modern aesthetic. He is one of very few contemporary Muranese artists to successfully employ classic murrina and battuto techniques for a disciplined, sober vision. While many Italian glass designers are traditionally beholden to the skills of the master glassblower, Massimo maintains an unusual amount of control over the making process of his works. His modern designs and ancient techniques bridge old and new, tradition and innovation. Massimo's work stands out among a new generation of Muranese artists benefiting simultaneously from the island's heritage and its future.
