For Susanna and Marina Sent, the palettes of polychrome enamels their father used to decorate glass have been a source of inspiration since the beginning of their activity. Using the lamp glass technique, they have created unprecedented colours for their modern pieces of jewellery. For the first time, they are displaying samples of all the colours they have produced in the 30 years of their activity, the exhibition will be held in small space that dates back to the 16th century in the Rialto district of Venice, and will celebrate the long creative path travelled by the two sisters.
Unveiling the hidden possibilities of glassMarina and Susanna Sent have taken the family tradition of glassmaking and updated into a highly original and contemporary craft, specialising in the design and production of glass jewellery and objets d’art. With different but complementary backgrounds, the two sisters – who share an appreciation of modernity and a passion for art – developed a peculiar approach to design. In their workshop, opened in 1993 and located on the Fondamenta Serenella on the island of Murano, they create original glass jewellery, the result of stylistic and technical innovations, as well as murrine and filigree glass sculptures, glass fusion plates, glass fabrics and lampshades made from interlinked pieces of glass: objects in balance between craftsmanship and design, characterised by a constant search for formal sleekness and for a modern style fluctuating between minimalism and fantasy. Their creations have been successfully exhibited at several national and international shows.
