Visit the workshop of a Venetian Carnival mask maker

with Sergio Boldrin

Step into the universe of Venice masks

The Boldrin brothers are mascareri, or mask makers, and have been making Venetian papier-mâché masks with traditional techniques in their two ateliers for 40 years. Crammed with pieces and stories, you will find Sergio hard at work gilding and decorating masks. Massimo will be busy making moulds and creating masks with great skill, ready to explain the stages involved in producing them. This theatrical universe takes us on a journey into the history of the Venice Carnival and the Commedia dell'Arte, with forays into worlds of pure fantasy created for fashion, theatre and cinema. Please note that this visit is free and can accommodate up to 6 people.
