3 days Max 6 people£330 per personFrom the atmospheric contemporary wooden studio built in her garden in East Sussex, Annemarie O’Sullivan explores the Irish and Orcadian folk traditions related to hay, straw and rush. This experiential workshop enables participants to learn how hay, straw and rushes were used in rituals and simple domestic objects over the years, making them an essential part of everyday life. The workshop lasts three days (6.5 hours per day, 10am to 4.30pm, with a vegetarian lunch included in the price). Participants will learn about St Brigid's crosses, three armed crosses, flackies/mat, harvest knots and ropes/simmens. All materials are included. On 1 February, to celebrate St Brigid's day, the meal will be cooked in hay.
