Part of a series of five, this mask is assembled from found objects which have lost their utilitarian purpose: Christmas ornaments, watches, baking tins, pins and toys. Dimitri Shabalin is inspired by the masked icons of modern media – characters from video games or film superheroes – and the mystical stories of Ancient Egypt – its pharaohs and priests. Each of his masks corresponds to a character and together they form a story.
