This origami figure is part of Juho Könkkölä’s Finnish character series and was inspired by the Finnish version of the mythological creature Näkki (Neck). The pose conveys the lurking characteristic of the water spirit. It was among the first pieces Juho created while developing the techniques of wet folding and paper treating. Wet folding allowed more organic and round shapes to be achieved, while paper treating made it possible to use thinner and stronger handmade papers for folding.
