Ghost Coral Venice Variation

This handmade paper sculpture is a powerful visual metaphor for the destructive impact of climate change. The sculpture depicts the progressive bleaching and destruction of coral reef ecosystems due to global warming. The vibrant, richly coloured centre of the relief sculpture is surrounded and eclipsed by a contrasting ring of ghostly, bleached coral forms. The delicacy and fragility of paper as a material is a perfect metaphor for the fragility of the natural world itself.
