Made with love

  • • Laima creates handmade ceramics for everyday
  • • She set up her own workshop in 2013
  • • Some of her creations spend nine days in the kiln

While Laima was studying for her BA she was researching the Arts and Crafts movement and the Mingei movement, as well as ecological art. She was moved by the philosophy behind handmade pieces and the idea of making art a part of our everyday experience. Pottery came to Laima’s mind as it is part of her people’s daily life and culture. With the help of funding, Laima was able to purchase studio equipment after finishing her university degree. She set up her studio in 2013 in a building at her childhood home, that had stood empty for 11 years. Together with her family, they renovated the structure. She admits that it was the hardest year of her life, because suddenly she wasn’t surrounded anymore by the supportive community from university and she had to set up everything from zero.
