Speaking through his hands

  • • Mauro uses only natural materials
  • • He develops his own techniques as he works
  • • His first love is wood but he also works with metal and marble

"Creativity means working with what is available," says Mauro Mori, explaining how important it is for him to focus on what he has, not what he hasn’t. "This is valid not only in art but also in life. The approach is the same," he affirms. After travelling for years to discover the world and himself, it was in the Seychelles where Mauro made his most significant discovery. "I was helping a friend to build his house and I shaped his window panels." From here, another journey began, one that brought Mauro to Milan to open a workshop sculpting raw natural materials such as wood, marble and metals. "For me, my working process creates a dialogue with the material through my hands, my body, my senses," he says.
