The golden touch

  • • Sara grew up in various countries in Africa
  • • It takes her up to 600 hours to create one piece
  • • She has collaborated with brands including Piaget and Guerlain

Sara Bran is a self-taught goldsmith who creates fine jewellery and decorative items with a lace-like effect. Her bespoke, unique pieces are inspired by poetry and have exceptional finesse and delicacy. From a very young age, Sara knew she wanted to work with her hands. She began her studies in history of art before moving into the fine arts. A career in painting, drawing, modelling and photography followed, before her attention moved to stone sculpture and in turn to jewellery, and finally to the signature pieces that she makes today.

Dream Butterfly 2

This red gold pendant has been fitted with diamonds and opals. A theme that Sara holds close to her heart, butterflies are a recurrent motif throughout her work. For this piece she doubled the wings, superimposing two layers of gold lace with diamonds, in order to illustrate the incredible resistance of wings despite their thinness.

The Forest

This handmade, finely chiselled pendant, adorned with colourful stones, combines two techniques: chiselling and sawing. Sara wanted to convey the image of a tropical forest with lots of vivid colours, complex patterns and shapes that play in the light and shadows.

Baroque Butterfly

This grey gold pendant in the form of a butterfly was finely chiselled and cut by hand. It features a large Tahitian pearl, set in a gold lace ring where it remains free to move. The butterfly just touches the pearl, as if flying past. The wings are set with diamonds and the head with a half carat diamond.

Volute Tahitian pearl ring

This gold ring features a Tahitian pearl which is free to move within its gold lace shell. Throughout much of her work, Sara chooses not to confine the pearls she uses but to leave them free to move. She does not pierce or drill them, leaving them untouched, as nature made them.

Point d’Alençon collar

Point d’Alençon is a masterpiece that took over six months to complete. It is a collar made of seven articulated gold plates from three colours of gold: grey, red and yellow. The gold lace is incredibly detailed and set with 175 diamonds. The lace incorporates textile patterns and organic elements such as leaves and tiny flowers, which were chiselled and sawed by hand.
