The Institut National des Métiers d'Art (INMA) is the French state operator that promotes the growth of the crafts industry. It brings together public and private stakeholders and develops its expertise to anticipate the future and support the development of the crafts sector. It supports the transfer of knowledge to the next generation and recognises emerging talent through its Prix Avenir Métiers d'Art (Future of Crafts Prize). It also runs the European Artistic Crafts Days (EACD), an international series of events to promote crafts. Though founded in 2010, INMA's history goes back far longer, to the creation of its precursor, the Fondation de la Société d’encouragement aux arts et à l’industrie, in 1889.
